Neon8's award-winning VR180 platform, Box Office VR was designed to expand access to live arts — breaking barriers of geography, cost, and disability, while giving theatres a new way to reach audiences beyond the venue.
Our Mission
The key elements of 'the why' remain — access for audiences, distribution for the arts. But our mission now is to take that proof of concept further. We believe that professional theatre and live arts shouldn't only be for people who live near a major city, can afford a ticket, or are well enough to get to a venue. Box Office VR is a platform that places audiences inside the performance space, not watching from a distance, and makes professional work available to communities that touring models currently fail to reach.
We're building towards a subscription model that brings high-quality arts content to libraries, schools, arts centres and community organisations across the UK, giving theatre companies a new audience, and giving those audiences access to work they would otherwise never see. As part of that next phase, we're working towards establishing Box Office VR as a Community Interest Company, ensuring that its purpose remains rooted in community benefit for the long term.
